Christopher C. Hammond MD

Dr. Hammond has been with the PeaceHealth Medical Group since 2007. Prior to moving to Oregon, he lived in Albuquerque where he served as a pediatric hospitalist, caring for children who were hospitalized at the Children's Hospital of New Mexico. He continues this interest and expertise on the pediatric inpatient unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. He was also instrumental in establishing the inpatient pediatric sedation service. He is an affiliate assistant professor in the Dept. of Pediatrics at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and co-clerkship course director for the third-year medical student rotation at RiverBend. He is fluent in Spanish and also has a special interest in breastfeeding advocacy. He has published newspaper articles, given lectures, and assisted in passing breastfeeding legislation. Other areas that are important to Dr. Hammond include judicious use of medical testing and antibiotics. He is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He currently is accepting new patients from birth through age 18 and works at the new Eugene University District location. He enjoys spending time with his family. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, pretending to be a farmer at their home in the countryside, playing basketball and golf. He is a recent convert to Duck fandom thanks to his mentor, Dr. Buz Harlor.
