Dale Zender Named Chief Administrative Officer for PeaceHealth St. Joseph

As we all know, health care is changing, and so is PeaceHealth. While we remain grounded in our mission and guided by our values, PeaceHealth will continue to evolve.

One important change at PeaceHealth is the way that we are organizing our services into regional networks of care. The Northwest Network includes PeaceHealth facilities in Alaska, Whatcom, San Juan and Skagit counties. We want to share with you an important step which is intended to further support caregivers and ensure that our community – Bellingham and the surrounding areas – continues to be well served.

We are very pleased to announce that Dale Zender, who has held positions of increasing responsibility since joining PeaceHealth in 1983, will become the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center as of today. This position is part of a system-wide effort to provide lean management across PeaceHealth. In the Northwest Network, we already have a CAO in place at Ketchikan and on San Juan Island. Let me add, this change does not represent an increase in administrative positions. Dale will continue to serve as the CFO for the Northwest Network.

As CEO and Chief Mission Officer for the NW Network, Nancy Steiger’s office will be at the hospital in Bellingham, but she will focus much of her time on Network development outside of Bellingham.

This change for Dale is a reflection of his commitment to Whatcom County and to PeaceHealth. We are fortunate to have this homegrown talent and expertise helping to lead our Network and PeaceHealth St. Joseph through the churning waters of change and health care reform. Please join us welcoming Dale to his new role!
