PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center is partnering with Spencer's HeartStrong Foundation to offer our first Heart Screen for Teens, for youths ages 13-18.
It is estimated that up to 7,000 American teens die every year from undetected heart conditions. Those who appear in the best of health are at the greatest risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), as SCA is three times more likely to strike youth athletes than their less active friends.  Many of those deaths could be prevented through basic testing, education, and parental awareness.

Get Screened
Come to the Heart Screen for Teens Saturday, February 21 at the PeaceHealth Lakefront Clinic at 1718 East Kessler Boulevard in Longview, WA. We ask that you register in advance by visiting www.StopYouthSCA.org to request your appointment time. The Heart Screen For Teens will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A representative of Spencer's HeartStrong Foundation will contact you to confirm your appointment.

Forms You'll Need
Please click to download, then print and complete both the health questionnaire and parental consent form prior to the Heart Screen For Teens, then be sure bring the completed forms with you on Saturday, February 22nd.

What Will Be Screened
The Heart Screen for Teens will provide the basic screening necessary to determine whether your teenager carries potentially fatal heart defects or heart disease:

  • Abbreviated echocardiogram
  • Blood pressure check

Your teen will also have a review of personal and family health history, and have the opportunity to learn hands-on CPR.

There is a suggested donation of $25 per teen, which will benefit the great work being done by Spencer's HeartStrong Foundation. No child will be turned away due to inability to pay the suggested donation.
