  • Bathe or shower on the morning of your surgery to minimize the risk of infection.
  • You may brush your teeth and use mouthwash, but do not swallow any water.
  • Bring a list of all your current medications with you.
  • Please leave all valuables, such as money and jewelry at home.
  • Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes that will fit over any dressing and bandages you may have after surgery.
  • If you are having a surgery around your face, do not wear makeup.
  • If applicable, bring your eyeglasses (in a protective case), hearing aids, and dentures with you.

Before surgery begins, we will give you an estimate of when you may be ready to go home. Your family and friends may wait in our lobby during your surgery.

  • Insurance ID card, billing information and, if applicable, your Medicare card or Medicaid coupon.
  • Clothing that can fit over a large dressing.
  • Crutches, if your surgeon has recommended them. If you bring crutches, please leave them in your car.
  • A responsible adult should accompany you and remain available to drive you home. You will usually be ready to go home one to two hours after your surgery.
  • If you use a prescription inhaler, please bring it with you.
