Ways to give back"Many of our patients' families want to come back as volunteers to help make this as good of an experience for others as it was for their loved ones."

What makes PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center's Regional Cancer Center exceptional? Our volunteers!Volunteers at the Cancer Center are an important part of our healthcare team. Volunteers provide support to patients and their families as well as important assistance to nurses and other staff.
Volunteering is not just about donating time or money. Many volunteers donate their talents; for example, our quilting group meets monthly to make comfort quilts for patients to keep warm with during treatments. Hats and caps made of very soft yarns in esthetically pleasing colors by experienced knitters are also gratefully received.
The Cancer Center's volunteer coordinator, Sherilyn Brown, helps people meet their personal needs in finding the right opportunities. Volunteers range in age from 18 to 80s or older. Many of our volunteers have had personal experience with cancer, offering hope and inspiration.
