PeaceHealth Southwest Foundation Awards $122,600 in Health Career Scholarships
The PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce $122,600 in awards to the winners of the 2013 PeaceHealth Southwest Foundation Health Career Scholarship.
Scholarships will be awarded to 66 individuals studying health care careers at a ceremony on Thursday, May 16 at 6pm in PeaceHealth Southwest’s Health Education Center. Awardees include PeaceHealth Southwest employees (19 awardees), PeaceHealth Southwest adult and junior volunteers (20 awardees), adults in the community (12 awardees), and high school graduating seniors (15 awardees). All of the winners are from Clark County, with the exception of two students who are currently living at universities in Washington. Of the 66 awardees, 36 are from Vancouver, 15 are from north county (Battle Ground, Brush Prairie, Ridgefield, Woodland), and 13 are from Camas and Washougal. Major scholarship winners include:
- $4,000 Jack and Nancy Barry Scholarship – KerriAnn Finnegan & Kelsey Gergen
- $3,000 Sarina Slaid Memorial Scholarship – Marcus Kwon
- $3,000 Margaret Heins Scholarship – Saundra Fisher
- $2,500 Junior Volunteer Scholarship – Juana Gonzalez
- $2,000 Employee Giving Scholarship – Christine Taormina
The Sarina Slaid Memorial Scholarship and The Jack and Nancy Barry Memorial Scholarship are privately funded. The Employee Giving Campaign Scholarships are funded by donations from PeaceHealth Southwest caregivers. All other scholarships are funded by proceeds from the PeaceHealth Southwest Gift Shops and contributions made by community donors.
Applications for the 2014 Health Career Scholarships will be available in January at the Medical Center’s Foundation Office, the Education Office, or the Volunteer Office. The application can also be downloaded from the PeaceHealth Southwest website.
