Spiritual Care

Caring for yourself means caring for your whole self — body, mind and spirit. At PeaceHealth, patients and families can receive spiritual care services from a variety of faiths.

You or a family member may need spiritual care while staying in the hospital; before or after surgery; after being diagnosed with a life-changing illness; or while managing end-of-life care. You may also seek services for guidance, help with making decisions, comfort or prayer. Chaplains and teams of trained volunteers are here for you.

Care providers will listen and guide you, and they will always respect your personal beliefs. At PeaceHealth, you’ll find a full range of care to support your needs.

Spiritual Care at PeaceHealth

Collaboration with your medical team

Our providers care for you as a whole person. That’s why spiritual care providers, including chaplains and volunteers, are committed to working with your medical team to meet your needs. You’re covered around the clock for spiritual care — that includes after hours.

Integrated care

PeaceHealth spiritual care providers are part of the team. We all work together to design a care plan for you or your family member. We can also work closely with bereavement services, palliative care, hospice and more — so you can benefit from a dedicated, compassionate team.

Specialty-trained spiritual care providers

Chaplains and volunteers at PeaceHealth are trained to provide spiritual care that supports you. Chaplains have a master’s-level education and are certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. They’re trained in spirituality, bereavement, ethics, mental health and pastoral counseling. PeaceHealth also trains spiritual leaders and supports a healing ministry through its nationally recognized Clinical Pastoral Education program, which helps providers improve their spiritual caregiving.

Personal attention

At PeaceHealth, your care team works with you and your family to provide spiritual care that is tailored to your needs. We bring compassion, caring and comfort when you need it most.
