The Hyperbaric Center uses the sophisticated Sechrist Monoplace 4100 Hyperbaric Chamber, the largest single-person hyperbaric chamber on the market. Our team of highly skilled physicians, nurses and technicians remain in constant contact with every patient throughout the treatment session via the chamber intercom. The roomy interior allows patients to rest comfortably in a reclined position, while breathing normally. Patients can listen to music, watch television or movies, or nap during treatment.
Depending on the medical condition being treated, sessions last about two hours. Conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning can require as few as three visits. Other conditions, such as non-healing wounds, may require 20 to 40 visits for the best results.
Most patients experience no side effects from hyperbaric oxygen therapy. A small percentage of patients have reported minor ear or sinus discomfort similar to that felt while flying in an airplane. Some experience lightheadedness for a few minutes following treatment. A minority of patients experience mild changes in vision that usually goes away within a few weeks after treatment ends.
