Cancer Education and Support Groups

First know this: You are not alone. Second: There are resources to help you learn how to play an active role in the decision-making about your cancer treatment. Support and education are important elements of any cancer journey. Learn all you can about your condition. You may find that support groups or individual counseling are helpful to you during and after treatment as well.

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center offers:

  • An education room with books, pamphlets and videotapes for patients to browse and check out.
  • A six-week educational series for cancer patients and their families.
  • A variety of support groups as well as meditation, yoga and other classes to help patients cope with a cancer diagnosis and cancer treatment.

Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend offers:

  • A medical library accessible to the public, with trained medical librarians available to help you find the information you need.

Several support groups for specific cancer patients are available in the Eugene area.
