Regional Executive Team

Members of the Regional Executive Team embrace a leadership model fully rooted in our Mission and Values and in our heritage as a Catholic health care ministry. This model guides our leaders in every aspect of their work and oversight responsibilities.  It challenges us to relentlessly pursue improvements in patient outcomes and service to patients and families while awakening joy, meaning and purpose in the human spirit.

Rick Yecny
Chief Executive Officer and Chief Mission Officer

Rick Yecny has been Chief Executive Officer and Chief Mission Officer for PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region since July 2010. In this position he oversees Peace Harbor Hospital, a rural not-for-profit critical access hospital, and PeaceHealth Medical Group, a multi-specialty group of 32 providers who serve the greater Florence area of the Central Oregon Coast.

Rick first came to PeaceHealth as a member of the Siuslaw Region board of directors in 1991 and was recruited as Chief Financial Officer for the region in 2001.

Rick earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Accounting degree from the University of Portland. He became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1979 and worked for an international accounting firm in Portland, Oregon until moving to Florence, Oregon in 1982. He was a partner and part owner in a Central Oregon Coast CPA firm prior to taking the CFO position with PeaceHealth in 2001.

He continues to serve on numerous community boards, including the board of directors of Oregon Pacific Bank and the board of the Friends of Florence, a not-for-profit organization providing daily transportation services for Florence cancer patients.

Ron Shearer
Vice President, PeaceHealth Medical Group

Ronald Shearer, MD received his medical degree at University of Oregon, School of Medicine in 1980 and completed his residency at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California in 1983. Dr. Shearer is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He joined the Peace Harbor medical staff in May 1995.

Sherry Catlin
Vice President, Medical Affairs

Sharon F. Catlin, DO, received her medical degree from Kansas City College Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri in 1978. She completed her internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital in Michigan in 1979. Dr. Catlin is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice. She joined the PeaceHealth medical staff in 1989. Dr. Catlin worked in Family Practice and served as part-time medical director until October 1999. At that time, Dr. Catlin's medical director responsibilities became full-time and she closed her family practice.

Sue Scarberry
Vice President, Acute Care Services

Sue has been the Regional Vice President for Patient Care since 2005. Prior to that time she served in the Siuslaw Region as the VP of Clinics and Ambulatory Services for eight years.  She is a graduate of Sacred Heart School of Nursing and has spent her career in a variety of patient care and leadership positions in the Siuslaw Region.  Sue, as the Chief Nursing Officer,  is responsible for the level of clinical nursing practice. She has oversight for all inpatient nursing units, dietary, pastoral care, imaging,  emergency, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health and hospice, cardiopulmonary services, and pharmacy.

Don Bourland
Vice President, Culture and People

Don began his career in Human Resources in PeaceHealth at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, Washington. Don transitioned to Sacred Heart Hospital and SelectCare in Eugene before moving to Florence where he accepted the position of Regional Vice President of Culture and People here at Peace Harbor Hospital. Don has worked within the PeaceHealth system since 1979 and has led numerous initiatives to carry on our mission of healing.

Betsy David
Chief Financial Officer

Betsy David is the Vice President of Finance (CFO) and Organizational Integrity Officer. This includes oversight for the Siuslaw Region fiscal operations, Patient Business Services, Health Information Management, Contracts Administration, Materials Management and Facilities. Additionally, Betsy serves as the Siuslaw Organizational Integrity Officer and as a member of the PeaceHealth System Organizational Integrity Task Force. She is responsible for establishing a culture of ethical and compliant behavior and lead the Regional Organizational Integrity Program to confirm compliance with PeaceHealth policy and federal/state regulations. Betsy joined PeaceHealth in August 2010. 

Betsy came to PeaceHealth from Cedar Riverside Peoples Center, a federally qualified health center in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she was CFO. Prior to her CFO position in Minnesota, she worked in public accounting doing auditing and consulting for a variety of large and small health care organizations. Betsy has her CPA in the State of Minnesota and will complete her Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota in January 2012.

Nena Harvey
Director of Operations, PeaceHealth Medical Group

Nena has served as a highly respected member of the PHSR Leadership Team for 17 years prior to joining the Executive Team as Medical Group Operations Director in 2009.  Prior to refocusing on the Medical Group in 2007, she served as Patient Financial Services Director and Revenue Cycle Director for the Siuslaw Region for many years.  As Director of Medical Group Operations she was integral in the transition of clinical staff from Health Associates of Peace Harbor to PeaceHealth Medical Group.  Nena began her medical office career in 1988, at Family Health Center, (Family Practice Clinic), in Florence, working for Dr. Jim Scott and Dr. Sherry Catlin, in medical group administration.  Early in her career she worked as an Office Manager for a Nursing Home for three years, and spent a year working as an Office Manager for an advertising agency.

Di Lacey
Vice President, Fund Development & Public Affairs

Di Lacey is the Executive Director of Peace Harbor Hospital Foundation and provides oversight of marketing, communications, public relations, volunteer services and governmental relations for PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region. She works closely with leadership, caregivers, physicians, patients and families in establishing open lines of communication reflecting our mission and addressing the healthcare needs of the community. Prior to her current position, she served as the Community Relations & Education Manager, Healthcare Improvement Coordinator, and Supervisor of Diagnostic Imaging.

Raised in Central Oregon, Di received her degree in Allied Health Technology from Oregon Institute of Technology. She began her career in high-tech imaging at Kadlec Medical Center in Kennewick, WA and was then recruited to Reedsport in 1985 to open the mammography department for Lower Umpqua Hospital. From 1986 through 1989 she provided ultrasound, mammography and radiology coverage at both Western Lane Hospital and Lower Umpqua Hospital until accepting a full-time leadership position at Peace Harbor Hospital in 1990. Di is actively involved in community health and patient advocacy groups: she is a current member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthopy, International Association of Business Communicators, and was recently honored nationally for Best of Show by Healthleaders Media Marketing Awards in Chicago.
