Consumer Reports Magazine

Consumer Reports magazine analyzed Medicare data and ranked PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center as No. 5 out of Washington State’s 60 hospitals for patient satisfaction, with an overall score of 76 out of 100.  These ratings are based on the federal government's survey of over 1 million patients regarding their recent experiences during a hospital stay.

Hospital Quality Compare

In 2009 Medicare data showed PeaceHealth St. Joseph had the lowest readmission rate in Washington for heart attack and pneumonia, and the fourth-lowest rate for heart failure.  Of all hospitals in the U.S., PeaceHealth St. Joseph had the lowest readmission rate for pneumonia, and was tied for seventh-lowest readmission rate for heart attack. PeaceHealth St. Joseph was the only hospital in Washington with readmission rates better than (lower than) average for all three diagnoses reported (heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia).

PeaceHealth Laboratories

PeaceHealth Laboratories, a service of PeaceHealth St. Joseph, is inspected and accredited by the College of American Pathologists. This certification is highly respected for its challenging standards and other accrediting organizations accept it in lieu of conducting their own inspections.

All of the lab’s pathologists are certified by the American Board of Pathology. Two pathologists also are certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.   

Center for Rehabilitation

The Center for Rehabilitation at PeaceHealth St. Joseph is certified by the Council for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, which inspects standards of care for patients who are recovering from stroke, injury or serious illness.


Our Trauma Program has Level III designation, the most advanced Washington State certification north of Seattle. This means PeaceHealth St. Joseph has met or exceeded standards for staff, technology and systems needed to provide rapid, coordinated, comprehensive care to patients with life-threatening injuries.

Premera Blue Cross

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cardiovascular Center is designated as a Blue Distinction Center​ for Cardiac Care® by Premera Blue Cross. Designation is based on objective, evidence-based criteria.*

Washington State Quality Award

PeaceHealth St. Joseph received an Achievement Level Award from the Washington State Quality Award. It is based on an assessment of overall organizational performance against the demanding Criteria for Performance Excellence, which is the basis for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Being able to assess our medical center against the structure of the Baldrige criteria provides a basis to more easily compare to the practices of the best healthcare organizations.​​​​
