How Palliative Care Can Help With Goals and Dreams

Overview

Palliative care can help you live well. Even when the end of your life is near, you can still try to live as well as possible. Remember to do the things that you love. For example, if you love to garden, you may still be able to garden if you do not overdo it.

Talk with your palliative care provider about what you feel you still need to do in your life. If you want to see the Grand Canyon, he or she may be able to help you to feel well enough to travel. If you want to reunite with your long-lost sister, your palliative care provider may be able to help you know how to reach out to her.

You may want to make a list of all the things you would like to do before you die. Your palliative care provider can then help you decide which things are realistic for you. Although it is not always possible to do everything you would like, your palliative care team may be able to help you do things you did not think were possible.
