PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center and the entire PeaceHealth system offer high quality healthcare services, though Ketchikan's remote location and comparatively small population make it impossible to offer every specialized medical service and procedure all of the time. We counter these limitations is by offering some of those services in the form of visiting clinics—regular physician visits from other regions within the PeaceHealth system.
For example, we recently added Oncology visits to care for patients who have cancer or blood disorders. Dr. Jennie Crews will be making regular visits to Ketchikan to see patients from the Cancer Center at PeaceHealth St. Joseph in Bellingham. Dr. Crews will provide top-quality, expert cancer care—right here at home, for the first time.
We also have regular Gastroenterologist (GI) visits to care for patients who have digestive problems. Dana Stiner, M.D., makes regular visits to Ketchikan to see patients from his PeaceHealth Medical Group clinic in Bellingham. He evaluates and treats patients with Gastroesophageal Reflex Disease (GERD), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBS), Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, liver disease, chronic constipation and other problems. He will also offer advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
And, if you're one of the estimated 25% of the population affected by some type of sleep disorder, you'll see that we also have the Sleep Center and the service of a team of visiting board-certified sleep disorder physicians to our visiting physician staff that travel to Ketchikan from the Sleep Disorders Center in Bellingham.
These types of needed services are offered to our community. By taking advantage of our highly trained, specialized physicians in other regions, we are able to offer their services to patients in Ketchikan. We benefit from their experience without the burden of maintaining a full-time staff and facility for less than a full-time need.
If you are interested in meeting with our visiting physicians, see the visiting clinic calendar for dates they will be in Ketchikan.
