PeaceHealth Ketchikan Recognized by State Legislature

PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center received a special surprise this week during a site visit by Alaska State Senator Lesil McGuire. When the tour reached the new Infusion Therapy Suite, Senator McGuire presented a special Legislative Citation on behalf of the Alaska State Legislature to Chief Administrative Officer Ken Tonjes; Foundation Director Penny Pedersen; and Infusion Therapy Nurse Deb Davis, RN.

Senator McGuire sponsored the citation to commemorate the recent opening of the new Infusion Therapy Suite and to, “recognize the important role this new infusion center will play for Ketchikan and other southern Southeast communities.”

The commemorative certificate presented was signed by the State Speaker of the House Mike Chenault, President of the Senate Charlie Huggins, as well as by its sponsor, Senator McGuire.

During Senator McGuire’s tour of the suite, she commented on the importance of having high-quality, local care in rural Alaskan communities. Senator McGuire shared that she was moved to champion this special recognition from the legislature after hearing about the partnership of individuals, businesses, and private foundations who funded this local Infusion Therapy Suite in order to care for patients in a more private and serene environment.

“We are so pleased that this important project is being recognized throughout our state,” comment CAO Ken Tonjes. “Projects like this are key to ensuring our community members receive the care they need close to home at a time when they really need the support of their friends and family.”
