Immediate Funding Priorities

There are many ways for donors to partner with Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation in supporting exceptional care at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

A donation of any amount can be directed to the area at Sacred Heart that has the most meaning for you.  If you would like more information about areas needing immediate funding (highlighted below), please contact Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation at 541-222-7100.

Nursing Education

The Foundation is currently raising funds to provide scholarship support for our nursing professionals. Research has shown that hospitals employing nurses prepared at the baccalaureate and graduate degree levels experience more positive patient outcomes, and have fewer medication errors and lower mortality rates.

Employing nurses with a higher education also allows the hospital to achieve Magnet status. Magnet is a voluntary recognition program administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, an arm of the American Nurses Association, and held by only 5% of hospitals nationwide. To qualify for Magnet status, 80% of Sacred Heart’s nursing staff must have their BSN.

You can support nursing education at Sacred Heart by making a gift to the Sr. Monica Heeran Nursing Education Fund. The Fund was created earlier this year to underwrite scholarships for Sacred Heart Medical Center’s nursing staff pursuing a BSN or a master in nursing.

Behavioral Health Services

Approximately 1 in 4 Americans suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder. Yet despite the pervasiveness of mental illness, investment in the resources required to treat mental illness always has fallen short of the need.

Sacred Heart Medical Center is committed to investing in the development of a spectrum of care for behavioral health patients, creating many access points to a network of programs. Thanks to a combination of public and private funding, we have been able to increase our scope of services to fill gaps in care.

Your support is crucial. A gift to Behavioral Health Services Fund provides support to Behavioral Health Services in its future efforts to offer a continuum of care committed to the treatment and recovery of the whole person.
