Supporting Education at Sacred Heart Medical Center
Because improved knowledge leads to improved healing, we are committed to providing education opportunities for staff, patients and families. You can help us continue to foster a learning environment by donating to programs such as these:
Center for Medical Education & Research
A satellite campus of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) was developed at Sacred Heart Medical Center in 2006, providing medical students from OHSU with clinical clerkship opportunities during their third and fourth years of medical school. This development will have a significant positive impact on future physician supply and will help ensure patient access to physicians. PeaceHealth and other health systems in Oregon are partnering with OHSU to provide the experiences necessary to prepare this increasing number of physicians-in-training.
General & Clinical Education
Professional development of our more than 5,000 Sacred Heart employees supports our vision that “Every patient will receive safe, evidence-based, compassionate care every time, every touch” by:
• Solidifying critical skills that improve outcomes for patients
• Continuously updating knowledge
• Supporting entry-level staff for increasingly more challenging and hard to fill positions
Masters Prepared Nurses
Masters Prepared Nurses serve as key contributors, in partnership with our physicians, in developing standards of care, clinical protocols and care maps.
Nursing certifications are essential in support of the development of institutes. Postgraduate professional/technical certifications are increasingly important in a complex and constantly changing environment.
