Leslie A. Locklear NP

Since June 2016, Nurse Practitioner Leslie Locklear has been serving patients at PHMG Primary Care. She has an impressive list of credentials after her name along with a graduate degree in nursing from Yale. Having spent her early years here in Ketchikan, after graduating, she chose to return to Ketchikan, spending three years at Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Health Clinic as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She was especially pleased to have the opportunity to return here as she fulfills a federal grant agreement that exchanged an educational opportunity for service in rural health. At KIC she not only cared for the variety of patient needs but provided clinical diabetes management and education at weekly specialty clinics. She also more recently worked at Ketchikan Public Health Center and as a locum at the Interior Alaska Medical Center in Delta Junction. Along with impressive healthcare experience, Leslie was a Military Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Army. "I like seeing all patients," she answered when asked about her preferences, "but I especially like women's and children's health. I am especially intrigued when I get a chance to research conditions and to really dig into information to find out the best way to help a patient." Newly married, Leslie appreciates the outdoor life that Ketchikan offers. "I like to hike and fish, and" she laughs, "I like to read too which is great for rainy days." For the record, those credentials are: MSN (Masters of Science in Nursing), FNP-C (Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified) BC-ADM (Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management) and CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator)
