Jennifer Shelton, NP, joined the PeaceHealth Family Medicine Clinic in Sedro Woolley, Washington in April 2022. She also sees patients at the PeaceHealth Family Medicine Clinic in Burlington. Jennifer is particularly interested in helping underserved populations, especially those from the LGBTQ community and those suffering from mental health disabilities.
While studying to become a nurse practitioner, Jennifer worked as a nurse at PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Fairhaven Plaza Clinic in Bellingham. Before this, Jennifer coordinated and provided onsite student health care as a substitute school nurse for the Sedro-Woolley School District in Sedro Woolley. She also led clinical staff as a supervisor and triage nurse at Skagit Regional Health in Mount Vernon. Jennifer started her career in nursing at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, working on the medical floor and the Intensive Care Unit before transferring to a staff RN role at PeaceHealth United General Medical Center in Sedro Woolley.
Jennifer earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington in Bothell, Washington. She is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
“I chose to become a nurse practitioner to help increase access to those in the rural community I am part of,” says Jennifer. “No one should have to wait months to be able to see their primary care provider.”
Outside of the clinic, Jennifer is a huge sports fan. She also enjoys growing houseplants, thrift store shopping, reading, working on puzzles and gardening. Jennifer has two young boys and tends to the black Angus cows on her family’s hobby farm.
