Janine Shaw, MD, joined PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center’s Wound Healing Center in April 2022. Dr. Shaw has practiced family medicine in northwest Washington for over two decades. In her practice and interaction with patients, Dr. Shaw wants to do her small part to improve the world. Dr. Shaw retired from Lummi Tribal Health Center in 2020, where she worked as a family medicine physician. She started her career at the Seattle Indian Health Board before transitioning to positions at Pacific Medical Center, North Sound Family Medicine and Unity Care Bellingham. Outside of family medicine, Dr. Shaw is interested in wound care, behavioral health and preventative medicine. Dr. Shaw earned her medical degree from Michigan State University and completed her residency at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She also holds two bachelor's degrees, one in science from the State University of New York (SUNY) in Stony Brook, New York and the other in English from Oberlin College in Ohio. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Shaw is active in her community. She serves on the Lummi Island Heritage Trust board of directors and previously served on the Friends of the Island Library board. Dr. Shaw enjoys gardening, hiking, literature and cooking in her free time. She has been an active book club member for over 40 years.
