Farhana Malik MD

,

Farhana Malik, MD, graduated from Chittagong Medical College in Bangladesh. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at University of Buffalo, where she received a one-year scholarship for being the youngest scientist to be involved in translational research in immunology and lymphoma. Dr. Malik also completed two fellowships – one in hematology, oncology and BMT at University of Minnesota, and a second in translational research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Her philosophy for care is treating people with compassion – knowing she’s meeting them at the most vulnerable moment in their lives. “I see them not as patients but as a complete person and address their physical, mental and spiritual well-being,” she says. “I tailor care to their needs, minimize discomfort and help them make decisions and maintain their dignity.” When not caring for patients, Dr. Malik spends time with her son and husband reading, gardening and enjoying the outdoors. She aspires to one day write a book about how her life experiences – including the loss of her grandmother to cancer – have shaped her into the person of healing she is now.
