Oregon Bariatric Center Support Groups

The Oregon Bariatric Center offers two support groups for their patients based on type of surgery. These Support groups are designed to provide encouragement and education for patients both before and after bariatric surgery.
Each meeting includes an opportunity for individual sharing, a discussion topic and an opportunity to ask questions. Guest speakers are frequently scheduled.
Oregon Bariatric Center staff guide group discussion, monitor information discussed for accuracy, encourage balanced group participation, answer questions, identify individual patient problems that may require follow-up, and maintain time limits.
In addition to patients who have had or are considering bariatric surgery through the Oregon Bariatric Center, patients’ support people are also encouraged to attend. While other family members are welcome, child care is not available and young children should be left at home.
All support groups welcome patients who have had any of our procedures (gastric bypass, sleeve, or lap band), but participants must be a patient of the Oregon Bariatric Center.
Support groups meet the first Monday of the month from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m, or the second Wednesday of the month from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
