Women's Health (Obstetrics)

From conception through labor, delivery and beyond, our obstetrical team will support you through every aspect of your pregnancy. Our practice is composed of 3 physicians who offer all-inclusive patient-centered prenatal care. You can see Dr Sculley, Dr Serrano, and Dr Parker . Patients are cared for by a team that not only includes physicians, but also social workers, medical assistants, nurse educators, lactation consultants, the possibility of doula assisted birth, and resources through community organizations like HealthyFamilies, the Nurse-Family Partnership, and the 90x30 program

Our team strives to provide a safe and joyful experience throughout your pregnancy and during your delivery. We work in a homey clinic space at the 340 Women's Health Building and our patients deliver in our recently renovated Labor and Delivery Unit at the hospital.

Services we provide include:

• Dating ultrasounds. We obtain these as soon as possible, ideally in the early first trimester, as these have been shown to decrease the likelihood of induction.

• Anatomy scans. These occur around 20 weeks and take place right here in Florence, providing you with information on the fetus’ sex and assessing for birth defects.

• Management of pregnancies affected by diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, advanced maternal age, and other chronic medical conditions

• External cephaloversions. This is a procedure that can help avoid cesarean sections in babies that are breech.

• Cesarean sections. Whether you need a repeat cesarean, a cesarean for medical reasons (e.g. placenta previa), or an emergent cesarean during what started out as a normal labor, we are prepared to give you a safe and family-centered surgery. We offer “gentle cesarean sections,” which is a well-researched protocol which involves –among other things—helping babies establish breast feeding and skin-to-skin contact in the operating room.

• Tubal ligations

• Osteopathic manipulation for pregnancy related musculoskeletal complaints. In addition to physical therapy, and regular aerobic activity, this can help ease common complaints like back or pelvis pain.
