Gentian Violet for Thrush
Gentian violet (1%) is a dye that kills bacteria and fungi. It can be
an effective treatment for
thrush.
If your doctor says it is okay, use a cotton swab to apply a very small amount directly to the infected areas in the mouth.
Do not swallow this medicine.
Gentian violet will stain skin and clothing. It should not be given
to newborns, because it can cause open sores (ulcers) in the mouth.
