Jamie Clarke, "Above All Else" Keynote Dinner Speaker

Summiting the world’s highest peak…crossing the most punishing desert...climbing on five continents...Jamie Clarke has explored our Earth as have few adventurers. Growing up devoted to sport, in love with exploration, Clarke challenged himself in the Canadian Rockies as a
young man. Clarke became a cross-country ski champion before setting out for the summit of Everest. Struck by tragedy and disappointment on two tries before topping his dream mountain, Clarke became the ninth Canadian to do so. That wasn’t enough. Clarke felt compelled to continue his adventuring, crossing Arabia’s Empty Quarter by camel, the first westerner to transit this harsh desert landscape in 50 years.

McKinley...Kilimanjaro...Aconcagua and beyond—exploring more than 45 countries, Jamie Clarke has summitted five of the world’s seven highest peaks. And Clarke plans still more outdoor adventures—Antarctica’s remote Vinson Massif in November of this year, later Indonesia’s Cartensz Pyramid. This spring…Clarke’s off on a mountain bike journey across Cuba.

Seeking fresh fields, Clarke has recently embraced whole new vistas—the world of business, via his 8,000 square foot retail store OUT THERE Adventure Centre in downtown Calgary, Canada. Clarke is a bestselling author, documentary film maker for National Geographic, and the father of two.

“Real winning has nothing to do with beating someone else, or crossing
the finish line first, or standing on top. Winning isn’t anything external at
all. It is an internal satisfaction, a deep inner sense of pride and joy.”

—Jamie Clarke
