Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation is a very important step in
recovery from a heart attack, heart surgery or other heart-related
problems. Our program includes monitored activity, education and support
to help patients establish and maintain an active lifestyle, gain strength
and confidence and take charge of their health and life.
Participating in
such a program also offers heart patients the opportunity to share the
recovery process with other people in similar circumstances.
Phase I begins when patients are in the hospital
recovering from heart surgery, a heart attack or another heart-related
problem. Low-level activity and education are emphasized.
Phase II is an outpatient program that begins soon
after patients leave the hospital. Participants improve their
cardiovascular endurance and overall health through monitored exercise,
classes and guidance from the cardiac rehabilitation staff. Family members
are encouraged to become involved in their loved one's recovery.
Phase III is a supervised outpatient exercise
program for people to maintain the cardiovascular endurance they have
achieved in Phase II. Exercise regimens are guided by patient goals, needs
and capabilities. Patients discover their strengths while adjusting their
lifestyles for optimal health.
