Joint Gym
You will begin physical therapy during your stay at the Joint Replacement Center. Additional therapy may be needed after you return home.
Group Physical Therapy
After you go home from your stay at the Joint Replacement Center, we encourage you to continue group physical therapy at our Joint Gym, the only program of its kind in Washington state. At the Joint Gym, you can benefit from continuity of care and the camaraderie shared by others recovering from similar joint replacement surgeries.
The Joint Gym, held at a PeaceHealth St. Joseph outpatient physical therapy clinic, offers evidence-based physical therapy services to assist you in regaining optimal range of motion, strength and function after your joint replacement surgery.
What to Expect
The Joint Gym starts with an evaluation during a one-on-one visit with a physical therapist. The physical therapist will assess your range of motion, strength, balance and functional mobility. You will then be scheduled for your follow-up Joint Gym therapy in a group environment. You will complete your supervised exercise in this environment, but have the benefit of additional one-on-one care with a physical therapist during each session to work on your specific needs.
Requirements
Joint Gym requires a physician, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner referral.
Scheduling
We recommend you call to schedule visits prior to your surgery to ensure a timely transition from inpatient treatment to outpatient treatment. Pre-registration is required as class size is limited.
Insurance
Individual insurance coverage varies. These services would be covered under normal physical therapy procedures. Please check with your individual plan for eligibility.
