Nancy Olson, an artist and resident of Priest Lake, Idaho, travelled to Bellingham with a friend to take a carving class. In the middle of the night, increasing chest pains and difficulty breathing caused Nancy's friend to call 911. Nancy suddenly collapsed from a massive heart attack. Whatcom County Medic One arrived on the scene and transported her to the Cardiovascular Center at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Upon arrival, our cardiovascular team provided the comprehensive care Nancy needed in order to save her life.
"I'm so grateful, not only to be alive, but also that my quality of life was saved," said Nancy. "I owe my life to the doctors, nurses and medics who gave me my life back."
Nancy has made a full recovery, enabling her to be back in the woods again, riding her ATV, running her tractor, fly fishing and carving.
