CARES Program

Cardiac Assessment Rapid Evaluation Service

Patients who are seen and evaluated for cardiac related symptoms and not yet admitted may be referred to CARES (Cardiac Assessment Rapid Evaluation Service). CARES allows patients to be seen in clinic for follow-up and additional diagnostic tests within 48 hours. Results are immediately forwarded to a patient’s primary care physician in order to facilitate continuity of care.

What to Expect

  • At your appointment you will see a cardiologist who will evaluate your history, symptoms and emergency room visit. This information will be assessed to determine if any additional lab tests and/or imaging tests are needed.
  • After your evaluation, the results of your office visit, tests and scans will be sent to your primary care physician for follow up. If you do not have a primary care physician, we can assist you in locating one that meets your needs.
  • You may leave our office with a packet of materials that includes heart healthy information, education materials, and follow up care instructions.
  • If additional testing is necessary this may need to be scheduled 2-4 days from the visit to allow for preauthorization approval from your insurance company.
