Cardiothoracic Surgery

Cardiothoracic Surgery is a critical component of the comprehensive heart care provided at the Cardiovascular Center at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. As part of a mission-driven organization, we are focussed on our vision of delivering safe, evidence-based care.

Our surgeons are board-certified fellows of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians. They have expertise in cardiovascular and general thoracic surgery, including minimally invasive techniques which allow for less tissue damage, faster recovery and less scarring than traditional surgery. They are among the only surgeons in the region who perform endoscopic artery and vein harvesting.

Thoracic surgery includes surgery for tumors and other diseases of the lung, mediastinum and chest wall. We provide Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS/Minimally-Invasive Thoracic Surgery), rigid bronchoscopy and placement of airway stents for tumors or diseases of the trachea and bronchus. Cardiac surgery includes coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve replacement and repair, surgery for arrhythmias, as well as transmyocardial laser revascularization.
