There are many ways to be involved as a volunteer at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Our goal is to assign responsibilities to volunteers that are consistent with both skills and interests.
Opportunities include (but are not limited to):
Adult Day Health
Assist with program activities in a group or one-on-one setting, meal set-up and clean-up, and general clerical tasks. Learn more
Assist clients with resource materials, assemble packets, stock brochures and provide Oncology program support as needed. Learn more
General clerical assistance including copying, data entry, filing, assembling packets etc. in a variety of areas.
Assist nursing staff and provide nurturing contact through holding and rocking infants in the Special Care Nursery. Volunteers receive specialized training to work with drug exposed infants.
Stock, clean and assist staff. This position is usually reserved for pre-med students. Learn more
Provide communion to patients.
Assist with specimen delivery, patient transport and miscellaneous tasks, as well as mail, flower and meal tray delivery. This position involves a lot of walking.
Assist cafeteria personnel with cleaning, stocking and maintaining the cafeteria.
Retail and customer service position. Involves handling cash transactions.
A customer service ambassador position providing general assistance, information and resources to visitors, patients and staff.
Assist physical therapy and occupational therapy staff, set up patient rooms, prepare equipment, and provide patient coaching.
Visit with patients to offer a listening ear in an effort to assure that patient questions and concerns are addressed.
Volunteer handlers and their canines provide emotional support, encouragement, stress relief and entertainment for patients and staff throughout the medical center. Position requires Therapy Animal Team registration through Pet Partners.
Provide clerical support, assist staff, stock supplies, and run errands. Pharmacy Assistant license required.
Geared to students seeking Rehab experience. Involves assisting Physical and Occupational Therapy staff in a variety of tasks. Learn more
Serve on a team or task force to provide patient/community involvement; one time computer, marketing, special events and other miscellaneous projects.
Fundraising, clerical support or assisting patients in the later stages of life with chores, errands and childcare.
