Breast imaging is much more than screening for breast cancer. Breast imaging and diagnostic procedures assist in diagnosing and treating diseases and conditions of the breast including breast pain, fibrocystic changes, benign masses, nipple discharge, breast-feeding, and changes related to hormone replacement therapy.   • Digital Mammography
    A mammogram is a black-and-white image of your breast used to screen for breast cancer. This technology converts x-rays into digital information, and helps detect breast cancer at its earliest stages, when it is most successfully treatable.
     
  • Breast Ultrasound
    With a breast ultrasound, high-frequency sound waves create a computer image. Unlike a mammogram, ultrasound images are created by sound. They can be seen in real time and captured as still images.
     
  • Breast Biopsy
    A breast biopsy is a procedure to remove a small sample of tissue for laboratory testing. It is considered the best way to evaluate a suspicious area in your breast to determine if it is breast cancer. There are several types of breast biopsy procedures.
     
  • PET
    PET/CT gets its name from the two imaging systems it utilizes: positron emission tomography (PET) and computer tomography (CT). It offers physicians a unique view of the body’s organs and tissues by showing metabolic changes in the body at a molecular level.
     
  • MRI
    MRI, an abbreviation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, does not use X-ray. An MRI uses a high-magnetic field and pulsing radio waves to create a sophisticated 3-dimensional image.
     
  • BSGI
    Typically used as a less-invasive "next step" when a mammogram reveals an area of concern or is inconclusive, Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) is especially useful in early breast cancer detection and may help prevent the need for a breast biopsy.
     
  • Bone Density Testing
    Bone Densitometry exams (DEXA scans) assist in the diagnosis of osteoporosis and osteopenia. Testing can detect low bone density early and also predict the risk of future fractures. Bone density testing is safe, quick and painless.
