Foundation Awards $58,000 in Scholarships
PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce $58,000 in awards to the winners of the 2014 PeaceHealth Southwest Foundation Health Career Scholarships.
Scholarships were awarded to 30 individuals studying health care careers. Awardees include PeaceHealth Southwest caregivers (15 awardees), PeaceHealth Southwest adult volunteers (9 awardees), and PeaceHealth Southwest junior volunteers (6 awardees)
Major scholarship winners are:
$2,815 Jack and Nancy Barry Scholarship – Kyle Blomgren (caregiver), Dana Nguyen (adult volunteer), and Timothy Liu (junior volunteer)
$3,000 Sarina Slaid Memorial Scholarship – Waverley He (junior volunteer)
$2,500 Margaret Heins Memorial Scholarship – Alla Akhverdova (caregiver)
$2,000 Junior Volunteer Scholarship – Ernie Tao (junior volunteer)
$2,000 Employee Giving Scholarship – Dhillon Tania (caregiver) and Jared Williamson (caregiver)
The Sarina Slaid Memorial Scholarship, The Margaret Heins Memorial Scholarship, and The Jack and Nancy Barry Memorial Scholarship are privately funded. The Employee Giving Scholarships are funded by donations from PeaceHealth Southwest caregivers. All other scholarships are funded by proceeds from the PeaceHealth Southwest Gift Shops and contributions made by community donors.
Applications for the 2015 Health Career Scholarships will be available in January at the Medical Center’s Foundation Office, the Education Office, or the Volunteer Office. The application can also be downloaded from the PeaceHealth Southwest website: www.peacehealth.org.
