Imaging Services

Imaging technology allows doctors to “see” inside the body. Quality imaging is key to early detection and diagnosis of disease and injury. Sacred Heart’s sophisticated imaging technology gives your doctors the information they need to give you the most effective care. Imaging at Sacred Heart provides:

Advanced Technology

Sacred Heart uses some of the world’s most sophisticated imaging equipment to help diagnose and treat patients. In addition to x-ray and ultrasound, the hospital offers computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), gamma cameras for full-body scans and myocardial perfusion imaging, and a d-SPECT imaging system for heart scans. The imaging department is accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Expert Interpretation

Radiologists are physicians who read and interpret imaging studies. Our medical staff includes radiologists sub-specialized in more than a dozen fields, including breast, cardiovascular, chest, emergency, musculoskeletal and neurological imaging. Click to meet our team of radiologists.

Immediate Access

Our all-digital system means all types of scans—from the simplest x-rays to the most complex MRI scans—are instantly available in an electronic format, just like a digital camera. Any of your doctors can view your images and read radiologists’ reports on any computer: in the doctor’s office, in the operating room, in the Emergency Department—even right at your hospital bedside. Digital imaging also means quicker examinations, better quality images and lower radiation exposure.

Patient-centered Care

We make every effort to scan patients quickly, comfortably, safely and effectively.

  • Our 64-Slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners are faster than traditional technology. Our short-bore MRI scanner is more comfortable to patients with claustrophobia.
  • Portable equipment can take x-rays of patients right in their hospital room. And our wireless network allows those images to be instantly downloaded and read at the bedside without delay.
  • Children requiring a longer scan, such as an MRI, may need anesthesia. Our Pediatric Sedation Support Team helps make that an easy experience for the child and family. MRI with anesthesia is also offered to adults with claustrophobia or other special needs.
  • Outpatient services include the Oregon Imaging Breast and MRI Center. It provides the most up-to-date digital mammography in a tranquil, woman-centered setting.
  • The Imaging Department’s location on the ground floor of Sacred Heart at RiverBend makes it convenient to outpatients. It is also adjacent to the Emergency Department, giving accident victims and others fast access to CT and other types of scans when seconds count.
