Ronald Woo, MD

Dr. Woo started his private practice in Bellingham in 1982. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, he completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic Department of Orthopedic Surgery. His primary focus is on hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement surgery, which was emphasized at Mayo, where he continues to maintain contact. This includes the new anterior supine approach to hips, which have a faster recovery period than conventional approaches.  Also, he is interested in arthroscopic surgery of shoulders and knees, including rotator cuff tears and sports injuries of knees such as ACL and meniscal tears. His philosophy in orthopedics is to balance state of the art techniques with what is tried and proven to be effective. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, biking and skiing. His wife, Lisa, is a real estate developer. They have two children; a daughter who is a teacher and a son who is also a physician.
