Robotic-Assisted Surgery for Obesity

Surgeons at Sacred Heart's Oregon Bariatric Center now perform robotic-assisted laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery for select patients. Performed with the da Vinci™ Surgical System, this innovative approach to gastric bypass allows physicians to provide the gold standard of surgical treatment for weight loss using only small incisions.

Robotic-assisted laparoscopy has proven to shorten procedure time and significantly reduce the risk of serious complications compared with conventional laparoscopy. It can offer numerous patient benefits including:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Less scarring
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Faster return to normal daily activities
