How We Established the Model of Care for the Senior Health & Wellness Center
Institutes are involved in research and education. Life-saving advances in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease are available to patients sooner when medical providers are involved in a teaching and research setting.
Ronald Stock, MD, is a board-certified Geriatrician who has been a leader in developing the Gerontology Institute. He is also the Medical Director for the Center for Medical Education & Research, a Sacred Heart-based program that provides training for Oregon Heath & Science University medical students.
The Gerontology Institute completed a lengthy study to demonstrate the impact of the team care model on older adults. It found that this model improves patient outcomes and satisfaction, while decreasing the length of stay in the hospital.
