Conditions Treated
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat many illnesses, often as part of a combined program including antibiotics or surgery.
Conditions include the following:
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Decompression sickness (the bends)
- Air bubbles in the blood
- Wounds that won’t heal, including diabetic foot wounds
- Radiation tissue injury
- Gangrene
- Crush injury
- Certain kinds of skin and bone infections that cause tissue death
- Severe anemia
