Minimally Invasive Whipple Procedures for Pancreatic Cancer

Minimally Invasive Whipple Procedure

Some patients may be eligible for a minimally invasive laparoscopic Whipple procedure, performed through several small incisions instead of a single large incision.

Compared to the classic procedure, the laparoscopic Whipple procedure may result in:

  • Less blood loss
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Quicker recovery
  • Fewer complications

Laparoscopic Pancreatic Resection Surgery

Surgeons are also using minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques for pancreatic resection surgery. Pancreatic resection is performed to manage inflammatory pancreatic disorders caused by chronic pancreatitis, and tumors localized in the body and tail of the pancreas.
