Nuclear Medicine: Endocrine Studies

The endocrine system is a group of glands that work together to produce hormones that regulate the body. Nuclear Medicine can image the thyroid and parathyroid glands (in the neck), and the adrenal glands (near the kidneys). The hormones produced by these glands are labeled with a radioactive isotope that allows the physician to image these glands and determine size, shape, and functional status.
