Research and Education
Lifesaving advances in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases are available to patients sooner when medical providers are involved in a teaching and research environment. The Oregon Neurosciences Institute is involved in research and education, including the following:
- An extensive educational program that includes patient notebooks covering neurological conditions, a spinal cord injury support group and discharge training on home care for family caregivers.
- An annual conference for neurosciences professionals devoted to the latest advances in the practice and care of neurology and neurosurgery patients.
- Research projects, including a neurosurgical study that led to increased options for patients needing cervical disk procedures. Institute research includes collaborative studies with the neighboring University of Oregon.
