Prince of Wales

In partnership with the city of Craig, PeaceHealth Medical Group Prince of Wales opened last year to provide primary-care services, opportunities for telemedicine and space for visiting specialists to meet with patients.

The partnership between PeaceHealth and the City of Craig is similar to the partnership between PeaceHealth Medical Center and the City of Ketchikan. PeaceHealth operates the new clinic and the City of Craig owns the building, the new Prince of Wales Medical Center.

The clinic is staffed by a full-time family medicine physician and a full-time acute care nurse practitioner with imaging and laboratory capabilities onsite. Plus, the fully integrated electronic medical record allows critical patient information to be accessible to specialist physicians and PeaceHealth hospitals system wide.

What lures a bright, energetic doctor and his family of five to a remote Alaskan island like Prince of Wales? Likely, it is the same kinds of things that called the rest of us to southern Southeast Alaska—the rugged wilderness, vast open spaces, amazing fishing, outstanding hunting, and the unending outdoor recreation opportunities. Dr. Patrick Ballard, wife Patricia, and their three teenage boys are all excited to call Prince of Wales home as he joins PeaceHealth Medical Group as the fulltime doctor of Family Medicine.
