Behavioral Health

Counseling Support for Overall Good Health

How people think and feel affects how they behave or the actions they take. Behavioral Health is the field of medicine devoted to helping people overcome or manage stresses and make positive healthy choices.

Examples of behavioral health issues include:

  • Addiction to drugs or alcohol
  • Bipolar (sudden or frequent mood swings from extreme sadness to extreme happiness)
  • Depression (mild to extreme sadness that won't go away)
  • Phobias (extreme or unexplained fears)

Causes of these and other disorders can include genetics, physical make-up, chemical imbalances, trauma, life experiences, environment or a combination of various factors.

There is hope and help for those who struggle with emotional or mental issues. Medication, counseling, special types of therapy or a combination are among the various types of treatments that can be used.

You can contact behavioral health specialists directly or you can ask your primary-care provider for a referral.
