Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS)
Our ENTs were among the first in the state to be trained in Transoral Robotic Surgery, or TORS, for minimally invasive treatment of benign and cancerous throat and neck masses.
Surgeons use the da Vinci™ Si Surgical System to access the surgical site through the mouth rather than through external incisions. Robotic-assisted procedures of this type involve in less trauma, faster healing and better cosmetic results.
In many cases, TORS results in the complete removal of a tumor, reducing the need for follow-up therapies. However, not everyone is a candidate for TORS. Tumor size, stage and location, as well as patient anatomy determine patient eligibility.
