The Sleep Disorders Center

PeaceHealth Medical Group's Sleep Disorders Center provides a multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Center is directed by five physicians who are board-certified sleep disorder specialists and is staffed by highly-trained, experienced technicians. In addition, we offer a support group for those suffering from sleep disorders.

A good night's sleep is important to your well-being. Since most people spend roughly one-third of their lives asleep, it's easy to see how the quality of sleep directly affects the quality of your life. Sleep disorders have been linked to a number of medical conditions that were previously thought to be unrelated. Put simply, if you don't get enough restful sleep, you may be at greater risk for high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. In addition, sleep problems are known to contribute to depression, diabetes, obesity and premature aging. You may be suffering needlessly and endangering your health without knowing you have a problem.

Symptoms of Sleep Disorders

You may have a sleep disorder if you experience any of these symptoms:

  • Loud snoring
  • Excessive sleepiness and/or falling asleep at inappropriate times
  • Gasping for breath while sleeping
  • Momentary pauses in your breathing
  • Leg jerks
  • Night sweats
