A cold nose and a warm heart may be just what the doctor ordered. Some patients heal significantly faster and better if they are visited by a friendly animal, which means our Pet Therapy Teams are an active part of the healing process. Research studies show that the uncomplicated affection and unconditional acceptance a companion animal offers can reduce anxiety and relieve depression, both of which inhibit healing. All of our Pet Therapy Teams have gone through extensive training and are members of the Delta Society. In-patients and their families that would enjoy a Pet Therapy visit are encouraged to ask their nurse.
So the next time you see one of our Pet Therapy Teams in the hospital or clinic waiting rooms, feel free to take time to for a little therapy from a cold nose and wagging tail. It’s definitely good medicine.
