Services and Care The Wound and Ostomy Department provides services to patients with impairment of skin integrity, alteration of bowel and bladder functions. The Wound and Ostomy Department activities encompass diagnostic evaluation, therapy, and education of the patient, family and public. Care coordination and discharge planning for both acute and ambulatory patients. Wound and Ostomy Specialists work as part of the health care team in the following areas: all hospital departments, outpatient clinic and contract wound services in the community. Care, treatment, and services are provided in an interdisciplinary, collaborative manner as appropriate to the needs of the patient and the hospital’s scope of services. Patient Population Patient demographics include pre-term infants through senior adults.The Wound and Ostomy Nurse provides care for patients who have basic treatment/educational needs up to the most critically ill.
