PeaceHealth Medical Group
Specialty Care

When your medical needs require specialized knowledge, your primary care provider will refer you to a physician specialist with training in that particular area. PeaceHealth Medical Group has specialists in the following areas of medicine.

--------------------------------------------

Anticoagulation

Anticoagulation clinics help patients taking warfarin (Coumadin) get the most benefit from the medication while avoiding adverse side effects.

Patients at risk of blood clots may be prescribed blood-thinning medication to prevent clots from forming. These patients need close monitoring. At the anticoagulation clinic they learn about anticoagulation therapy, get regular blood tests and have their medication dosage adjusted as needed. Clinic staff members work closely with patients’ own physicians.

Anticoagulation services are available at the Downtown Eugene clinic and Barger Medical Building.

Dermatology

Dermatologists diagnose and treat disorders of the skin, hair, nails and nearby mucous membranes.

These physicians care for patients with rashes and cosmetic disorders of the skin including hair loss, scars and skin changes associated with aging. They also treat skin cancers, melanomas, moles and other tumors of the skin. Cancer treatments include Mohs micrographic surgery, an advanced procedure offing the highest potential for recovery.

Dermatology services are available at the Downtown Eugene clinic.

Ear, Nose and Throat (Otolaryngology)

ENTs, or otolaryngologists, diagnose and treat problems in the ears, nose and throat and related parts of the head and neck.

Among the conditions ENTs treat are hearing loss, chronic sinusitis, tumors and facial traumas and deformities, and problems with speech, singing and swallowing involving the larynx (voice box) or upper digestive tract. They offer the latest surgical treatments for snoring. Audiology services include hearing evaluations and fitting hearing aids.

Ear, Nose and Throat services are available at the Hilyard Street clinic.

Geriatrics and the Senior Health and Wellness Center

Geriatricians (physicians) and geriatric nurse practitioners (nurses with advanced training) specialize in treating the often complex diseases and problems of older adults.

The Senior Health and Wellness Center is recognized as a national model for the care of older adults. The clinic is staffed with geriatricians, geriatric nurse practitioners, a medical social worker, counselors, a pharmacy consultant and a Medicare billing consultant. Also on-site is an Anticoagulation Clinic for patients taking blood-thinning medication. The center has been recognized as a national model for care of older adults.
