How do I know when I need help?
Some warning signs that pressures from home, school or job are making it difficult for you to function effectively may include:

  • Physical complaints when no medical cause can be found.
  • Excessive anxiety.
  • Prolonged feelings of despair and unhappiness, withdrawal and lack of interest in daily activities.
  • Feelings of being overwhelmed and helpless, lack of hope.
  • An unusual amount of irritability or suspiciousness.
  • Inability to concentrate.
  • Sudden shifts in mood or behavior.

How can counseling help me?

Counseling (psychotherapy) is a partnership between an individual and a professional psychologist or counselor who is licensed and trained to help people understand their feelings, solve problems and change their behavior. Counselors teach people skills to strengthen their relationships and reduce their stress and anxiety. Counseling can also help you increase your self-esteem, make positive changes and provide hope for a better way.

There are many approaches to counseling including individual, couple, group and family therapy. Our schedulers are trained to assist you in determining which counselor is best for you.
