SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Quarterback Bo Nix recently presented a check for $13,400 to the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and 7-Eleven, Inc. that will give future young patients the care they need going forward.

Nix teamed up with 7-Eleven, Inc. in the fall of 2023 as part of the brand’s first-ever Cleat Crew in which nine of the country's top college football players came together to create custom cleats that were auctioned off to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Nix’s cleats sold for an impressive $3,400 and those funds, along with a $10,000 donation from 7-Eleven, Inc., will be used by PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend to purchase life-saving equipment.

Nix visited with several families who directly benefited from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising during the event at RiverBend on March 25.

“It means a lot to me to be able to play a role in supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and families like these,” Nix said. “It’s really cool to see how much impact people can have on one another and how a simple shoe can go a long way and make such a difference. It’s a joy for me and my wife, Izzy, to be part of something like this.”

Nix sat down with several current and former patients  and their families to learn more about their stories and connections to the network. He also toured areas of the hospital that have received financial support from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising.

Dr. Doug Leonard, a neonatologist who works in the newborn intensive care unit and has utilized the resources Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has allowed Sacred Heart to purchase, said having Nix’s support goes a long way.

“Dealing with intricacies of the first seconds of people’s lives is difficult,” Leonard said. “And when you think about the newborn ICU, either the babies there came early or came with problems and there’s an exorbitant number of things that need to happen quickly, which costs a lot of money. Being affiliated with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals means if we need equipment, we have it, and it allows us to do really special things. And then you get 7-Eleven and Bo Nix, they add to the momentum of the community getting behind it.”
