Out of 100 men with prostate cancer who choose active surveillance, 4 to 8 will die from the cancer or its treatment within 8 to 10 years. Out of 100 men with prostate cancer who choose surgery, 6 will die from the cancer or its treatment within 8 to 10 years. Out of 100 men with prostate cancer who choose radiation, 3 will die from the cancer or its treatment within 8 to 10 years.
